About the Event
ALYX HENIGMAN @alyx.henigman
Swampland, an originally 5 hour durational work, is now a 20 minute durational work that guides both the performer and viewer into a place in which we instinctually do not wish to delve. A wet, slimy, sunken place of vulnerability that is perhaps somehow also the birthplace of creativity and transformation. Exploring the idea of performance (fervor) as lasting rather than ephemeral.
EMILY JERANT-HENDRICKSON has danced professionally in works by David Parker and the Bang Group, little house dance, Marcus Schulkind, Lorraine Chapman the Company, Sidra Bell, Itzik Galili, Shura Baryshnikov, Jenna Pollack, and Ilya Vidrin. She has had the pleasure of performing at venues and through organizations such as World Music/ CRASH Arts, The Museum of Fine Arts, The Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston Lyric Opera, The Yard, APAP at City Center, The Ailey Citigroup Theater, The Martha Graham Theater, the 92nd St Y, Soaking WET, Boston Center for the Arts, Oberlin Dance Theater’s State of Play Festival, and Cape Dance Festival, among others. Emily has also presented her own work at b12 festival in Berlin, Arts on Site, Manhattan Movement Arts, The Canterbury Shaker Village, Gibney Dance Center, The Dance Complex, Green Street Studios and The Boston Conservatory. She has also been a rehearsal director for little house dance, Jenna Pollack, and CoGRAVITY Dance. Emily holds a BFA in dance from The Boston Conservatory. @emilyjh_
