Body View / In the Presence of Absence

Choreographer and dancer Maayan Cohen Marciano returns to her solo from 2017 after years of artistic development. In her practice she treat the body as both material and location. She do not work with the body’s movement in space, but with a space known as ‘the body.’

Body View is a physical, tonal and vocal act that uses the nude body to discuss its inherent tensions. Nudity, being on the one hand awash with cultural content and yet of a presence closest to fundamentalism, materiality and tangibility, allows observation and research on the physical and social-cultural human body.

Through continuous motion of vibrating the flesh, the physical motion produces a tonal act that subjects the body to various transformations and playfully eludes the audience's gaze.
