JOY-MARIE THOMPSON & MAXI HAWKEYE CANION

JOY-MARIE THOMPSON (they/she) is a dancer, performing artist, writer and dance workers’ advocate from Pittsburgh, PA. Joy-Marie has performed work by Sidra Bell, Shamel Pitts, Staycee Pearl, and Maxine Doyle. Her writing has been published by Imagining: A Gibney Journal and Thinking Dance. Joy-Marie’s own work is rooted in the curiosity, spirit, wellness and advocacy of Black LGBTQ bodies. Thompson is currently based in New York, NY where they are a resident at Punchdrunk/Emursive's McKittrick Hotel. @joymarie.thompson

MAXI HAWKEYE CANION (they/them) is an Improviser, Performance/Movement Artist and Director interested in crafting visually transporting work. Community and collaboration are integral to their process as they build improvisational dreamscapes conjured by sculptural garment designs, immersive sound planes, textural motions and interactive installations. Through durational trances, Maxi processes their experiences inside these dreamscapes to invoke dialogue around identity and intimacy. @maxystarr
