MAIYA REDDING & NIARA SEÑA FEAT. DARVEJON JONES

MAIYA REDDING was raised in Chicago, Illinois, and now is a full time resident of New York City. She graduated from SUNY Purchase College in 2016 receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Dance. During the first semester of her Junior year in college she studied abroad at The Korean National University of Arts (K-Arts) in Seoul, South Korea for four months. She reset her work "Breaking through the Generational Curse" on Alessandra Corona Performing Works and also set another work "Chicago Luvin" on Dance Lab NY.  In addition she created and choreographed her films titled "The Evolution of Womb(man)hood" and "Letters to Medusa". She has taught various styles including ballet, modern, contemporary, and jazz for 8 years. Maiya recently received a  Master’s in Fine Arts degree in Dance from Hunter College.  While attending Hunter, she was afforded the opportunity to work as an Adjunct Lecturer teaching ballet and contemporary for the undergraduate students. Post graduation she is continuing to teach at Hunter and also has assumed the position of Adjunct Professor for Hofstra University and choreographed her  work “Faith is Calling” for the B.A students. This summer she was selected by The University of North Carolina School of the Arts to be one the choreographers for the Choreographic Institute Residency Program, where she set her work, “Rely on Time to…”. As a choreographer and instructor, Maiya's intention is to show the audience and her students the beauty of artistry. She intends on creating new works for Universities, Dance Companies, and developing her own company. @maiyaredding
