STATES is a work that invites reflection and conversation on how we navigate the tension between the overwhelming chaos of the world and the everyday rhythms of our personal lives—how we hold both at once and continue moving through them. I am interested in investigating how systems are designed to strip away our capacity to empathize and enact change. To survive within capitalism, we are often forced to compartmentalize our emotional states. If we succumb to the weight of global grief and unrest, we risk fatigue and paralysis; if we dismiss it, we are left with guilt and helplessness. It is a double-edged sword that leaves us suffocated, compelled to keep moving despite the chaos.
