STAY: An Original Dance Play

After moving to NYC in the spring of 2024, I was immersed in the city's rich nightlife culture. Through my time on the dance floor, I unearthed a deep admiration for social dance and the freedom it provides the community. Last summer, I created a concept video to reflect that sensation. My objective was to use dance as the predominant medium of storytelling, while creating something that everyone, regardless of dance ability, could relate to. I was drawn to this concept and wondered what it would look like to expand this video into a fully-realized dance play. An exploration leaning on the freedom of self-expression, connection to music and the community we find through modern-day social dance.
