About the Event
What Shifts Here was initially inspired by a former choreography project centered around the Japanese concept of kaizen—small, continuous shifts that accumulate into long-term transformation. Shaindel Tomasovitch’s work, unfunny, explores how unexpected changes disrupt us, re/shape us, and invite us into new modes of selfhood, her piece specifically examining tension and uncertainty...like whether you're in-love or in-just or something in-between. Across the evening, each featured work similarly engages with the complexity of human experience. As a viewer, how do you resonate with, challenge, or expand the conversation around process, change, trauma, joy, overwhelming emotion, and the many ways bodies navigate what it is to be human?
